CHS makes finding and paying for child care a reality and helps child care providers provide quality child care environments for children and families in need throughout California.
Ms. Susie’s Story
In March 2025, a Bridge program specialist began coaching Ms. Susie, a dedicated child care provider with more than 20 years of experience. At first, Ms. Susie was hesitant to share her needs, but through thoughtful conversation and a self-care assessment, she opened up about personal stressors and her desire to update her educational materials, something she had not been able to do, due to financial constraints.
The program specialist connected Ms. Susie with the Resource and Referral Hotline to access the CHS Resource Lending Library, and arranged an in-person coaching session at the Long Beach office. During that session, the program specialist provided her with updated resources, including social-emotional learning materials, sensory toys, journals, puzzles, and storybooks, all aimed at supporting the children in her care.
Ms. Susie expressed she was thankful for the program’s support, sharing how these tools will help her continue creating a nurturing, enriching environment for the children in her care.
